Legal Eye has been named as ‘Risk and Compliance Support Service of the Year’ at a prestigious ceremony celebrating the work of property lawyers in England and Wales. The fourth annual British Conveyancing Awards, sponsored by property due diligence report provider Groundsure, hosted over 400 property professionals at a glitzy ceremony at 8 Northumberland Avenue, London in March 2024.
The awards recognise and celebrate excellence across providers of home moving legal services and ancillary services. The rigorous entry process requires organisations to submit evidence of their approach to people, technology, process, professional development and technical excellence. A panel of expert judges, drawn from across legal and the wider property profession, independently reviewsthe entries, identifying those organisation who are deemed to have gone above and beyond their peers in supporting their clients and leading the way in the industry. The top scoring firms in each category are shortlisted ahead of the ceremony during which the winners and highly commended are announced live on the night.
Client satisfaction, one of the key scoring criteria, presents a mixed picture according to a survey conducted by National Conveyancing Week, which runs during the week of the awards. Nearly 3 in 4 (72% of respondents indicated they were satisfied with the performance of their property lawyer, with 3 in 5 (61%) of people saying they would use them again.
But speed remains a challenge for home movers, meaning that those in the conveyancing industry still face the barriers of acknowledging the delays in the chain; the time it takes to complete enquiries on the property and legal issues, including lack of paperwork, guarantees, certificates and permission, which continue to hinder transaction times., never mind the ever increasing list of AML and regulatory obligations.
Legal Eye impressed with judges with their commitment to removing a wealth of compliance burdens conveyancers face by providing risk and compliance solutions making law firms staff lives easier, more productive and crucially more compliant.
“To say we are thrilled is an understatement; to have our dedication to the sector recognised like this means so much. Many congratulations to all the winners and to all those who are highly commended, with a big thank you to Today’s Media for putting on such a fantastic event!” – Paul Saunders, MD at Legal Eye.
The British Conveyancing Awards is hosted by Today’s Media, the publishers of trade publication Today’s Conveyancer, an online news publication for property solicitors, conveyancers and property practitioners.
