The Green Paper Counterpart to a Photo Card Driving Licence had its legal status withdrawn last week. From June 8th no new paper versions are being issued or revised.
A new system of electronic records for motoring offences is in place and individuals can apply for a code to provide information to Employers about their driving records.
The implications with regard to ID checks and compliance are:
- Have you updated your documentation to remove the counterpart driving licence as an acceptable form of ID?
- The photo card licence is acceptable for either proof of identity or proof of address, but not both
- Note that there is an expiry date on the photo card licence as currently with a passport
